For Clarity:

1. I use the actual Vietnamese names in Latin script: Tà Xùa as Ta Xua, and Bảo Lạc as Bao Lac. This reduces confusion when looking for these names on maps, as I've personally experienced Google Maps showing incorrect locations.

2. The daily mileage in kilometers is the distance from point A to B, not including evening trips to point B, such as to a restaurant or a massage parlor. The time is just for driving from A to B. However, trips can take twice as long due to stops for sightseeing, resting, or eating.

3. I present prices in Vietnamese dong and convert them to euros in parentheses using the November 2023 exchange rate plus a 3.5% currency exchange commission. For ease, I sometimes round the euro price by 1–3 cents. In Vietnam, prices are in thousands, so I use 'K' instead of three zeros (100.000 = 100K).

4. I describe my personal experiences. What's endearing to some may be off-putting to others. People vary, so it's normal to have different views. For example, in Hanoi, I met two French friends who were shocked at the idea of eating street food, preferring a proper restaurant. I find it odd to pay triple the price in a restaurant for Pho Bo that a grandmother has been perfecting for 50 years, and likely supplies to that very restaurant (which I've witnessed elsewhere).
